Meet the Makers: Morgan

You’ll see Joe Morgan’s amplifiers in stadiums and arenas all over the world. It’s even hard to turn on a music awards show without seeing his products. That’s because Joe designs for the working musician, whether that means a Sunday morning church gig or touring the world with James Taylor.

Having come up in the Minneapolis punk rock scene of the 1980s, Morgan’s amp tastes leaned toward simple, well-built designs that nail the most iconic tones. Not able to find a modern amp that fit the bill, Morgan began a crash course in amp design, building 500 amps within two years. After earning his incredible expertise, Morgan finally created the amp he was looking for and his company Morgan Amplification.

Joe will be the first to tell you that tube amps are not rocket science and that they’re only as good as their components. That’s why Morgan only uses the very best and places Mercury Magnetics transformers into every model. What you’re left with are simple, touch-sensitive, responsive, and great-sounding amplifiers. So whether you prefer the sparkle of a Brit-voiced combo, bluesy, blackface-like breakup, or a full-on rocker, you’re sure to find it in a Morgan amplifier.

MORGAN AC

Morgan’s AC series of tube amplifiers is one of the company’s most lauded lines. They’re praised for their ability to achieve the vintage chime of many British Class-A combos, their pedal-friendly headroom required by modern players, and their ability to get dirty with the best of them.
